Data Trust Workshop Toronto – “People, Skills and governance”

The Opportunity of Data Trusts: People, Skills and governance required to enable data sharing through data trusts.

The current literature on data trusts remains theoretical in nature and connected to broad public concerns such as personal privacy and surveillance through data. Our goals are more pragmatic. We want to focus on cases of “sensitive” data that falls outside of Canadian privacy legislation such as FOIPOP, so that the operational elements of a data trust can be modelled into something that data providers can use more broadly. As such, we have identified five objectives for the workshop, focused on natural resources such as oceans, lakes, forests, wildlife, agriculture, and clean energy:

• Knowledge sharing of the opportunities and risk of data trusts.

• A policy roadmap to strengthen data trust or trust-like sharing relationships

• A framework with guidelines for risk assessment, training and management of data trust or trust-like arrangements.

• Emergence of minimum viable consortium (MVC) partnerships for data sharing.

• Ignite a network of potential trustees to support best practices in the legal, technological, economic requirements for managing data trusts.

Securing Your IOT Architecture

June 15

1:00pm – 2:30pm

Theme:

What are the various considerations you need to keep in mind to ensure that you mitigate cyber threats for products being developed?

Format of the event:

This 90 minute session will be limited to a small group in order to make this “executive seminar” very interactive. Our subject matter expert, Mr. Faud Khan, CEO for Twelve Dots and long time members of AIoT Canada will lead this session along with the participation of other AIoT Canada experts members in the field of AIoT.

The session will lead to the broad understanding of what your engineering team should consider to ensure risk mitigation practices are being implemented ideally early in the design process and how to ensure that current product firmware has been properly evaluated to minimal level of assurance. This will appeal especially to software development teams who wishes to gain Cyber Security expertise.
