Fujitsu Joins CENGN Consortium

The Centre of Excellence for Next Generation Networks added to its consortium this week, with the announcement that Fujitsu had joined the organization.

“Fujitsu will be a great addition to our membership,” CENGN president and CEO Ritch Dusome said in a statement. “Fujitsu will provide significant value.”

Global collaboration, said Mr. Dusome, is necessary to accelerate the development and introduction of the products and services coming out of the Kanata-based centre.

Fujitsu is joining the consortium that already includes the likes of Alcatel-Lucent, Allstream, BTI Systems, Cisco, EWA Canada, EXFO, Invest Ottawa, Juniper, Mistral Ventures, Rogers, Telus, and Viavi.

CENGN members are responsible for $11 billion worth R&D around the world and Fujitsu is already collaborating on a CENGN project.

Fujitsu vice-president Igor Bergman said the communications network industry is changing with “far-reaching effects” as networks become more automated and dynamic.
