Cities. They are the engines of the Canadian economy as well as the place that the majority of Canadians call home. And they’re continuing to grow: according to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) City Science Initiative, cities will soon account for 90% of global population growth, 80% of wealth creation, and 60% of total energy consumption.
As Cities in Canada and around the world continue to evolve, many municipalities are looking towards a future of Smart technologies, with the goal of improving efficiency, accountability and public services. By 2030, two thirds of the world’s populations will live in Smart-enabled mega-cities.
