Open Source Networking Meetup @ Bayview Yards (ICBY)

Come join CENGN and the Linux Foundation for an Open Source Networking Meetup at Bayview Yards (7 Bayview Rd)!

This event will discuss open source technology like Software Defined Networking (SDN), Network Functions Virtualization (NFV), Management and Orchestration (MANO), cloud, data analytics, and the acceleration of underlying infrastructures. We focus on the Linux Foundation networking projects: DPDK, FD.io, ONAP, OpenDaylight, OPNFV, PNDA, and SNAS, as well as other open source initiatives.

The meetup will take place on September 16th at 5:00pm. It includes presentations from tech industry representatives, an opportunity to network with some of Ottawa’s most innovative professionals, and complimentary beer, soda and pizza!

No purchase required, this meetup is a FREE event.

Johanne Mayer – With more than 25 years in the OSS/BSS industry, Johanne is the director of MayerConsult and was recently Global Evangelist for Telstra’s Network as a Service (NaaS). At the meetup, Johanne will be presenting ‘Standards Support for Network as a Service (NaaS)’ which will discuss the relevant Standards Organizations Initiatives in support of NaaS. To achieve the agility and speedier time to market to remain relevant in the new ecosystem, service providers require a new operating model with new processes, automation and actual supplier implementation of standard APIs when exposing their network capabilities “As a Service”.

Mark Beierl- Mark will be presenting on ‘OPNFV and CNTT progress towards a common goal.’The CNTT (Common NFVi for Telco Taskforce) was officially announced this past summer. Co-supported by GSMA and LF, CNTT will operate as an open committee responsible for creating and documenting a Common NFVi Framework, aiming to help accelerate deployment across the entire telecommunications stack, from infrastructure (NFVi) to Virtual Network Functions (VNFs). CNTT is currently working on the common NFVi reference model and reference architecture, and OPNFV has the goal to work with upstream communities to create reference implementations, along with required test cases and test frameworks.  Come hear the latest news and get updated on where this exciting initiative is headed.
